Learning How To Teach Basketball

Forgive us for the minimal posting the last couple of weeks. We did not have internet last week and nothing really too exciting happened to us anyways, so that worked out.

This week we have three basketball coaches from North Carolina putting on a basketball camp and we are translating/coaching. Gary is coaching rebounding, Blake is coaching lay-ups, and I am translating for a guy coaching passing. This has been our first real test of language since it is outside of our comfort-zone, which is buying food and talking to taxi drivers. So far so good. The hardest thing my coach threw at me to say was to "make the passes crisper". The best I could come up was "pass stronger" which resulted in the basketballs flying farther than they were before. All in a day's work!

We'll try to get some pictures of the fun kids we are working with. It's been a good week so far!
