Garage Sale Gold

As you all know, we had a garage sale last weekend. Have you ever had one of these? Basically it's a ton of physical work to set up a bunch of little things that you sell for 25 cents or less...but for some reason, it's a lot of fun.
We had junk, um, I mean, perfectly good stuff from 4 different families - ridiculous. Now, I've been to a lot of garage sales, and I absolutely can't stand it when people just toss all of their stuff in big, messy heaps...like I want to dig through that. No thanks. So I made it my own personal mission to make everything as organized and nice and neat as possible. It was a lot of work, but it made me feel good.
The sale as a whole was very successful. We got rid of a lot of things we didn't need, made a little bit of money, and have some funny stories to tell. Probably our favorite story is about a little 10 year old boy that came by to browse. (Something tells me this story won't be nearly as funny in writing...try to picture a young Gary/Eddie Haskell type of kid...let's call him "Timmy")
Timmy comes over and is browsing through the garage sale aisles just trying to find something to spend his dollar on. He picks up an old deflated basketball and yells, "How much for this basketball?!"
Me: "Well, it's only 50 cents, because it's not aired up."
Timmy: "You got a pump?"
Me: "No, sorry..."
Timmy: "Who's gonna buy an old deflated basketball?!"
Carol and I laughed. "Somebody who has an air pump will probably buy it."
Timmy started trotting off down the street. Meanwhile, an old man with a long, white beard and a cane pulls up in a rusty old van with the windows rolled down. Timmy runs up to the window and yells incredulously, "50 cents for that basketball, man!!" Then he ran off down the street.

Carol and I were rolling...Ok, now if you didn't find that story really hilarious, then let's just say, you had to be there.

So, in conclusion, we had a great weekend, but the best thing we gained was seeing father's provision for us even in something as insignificant as a garage sale. We pr'ed for it to not rain...not only did it not rain, but it was the most beautiful weather ever. We pr'ed for people to come...we hardly had a dull moment. This was just one more reassurance that we are not going to Africa alone. We cn trust tht anything we ask for will be answered.
