Grand is Only a Name

Blake and I headed south last week to the town we will be moving to. The objective was to find a place to live which I will tell you more about later.

The point of this post is to brag on us for our trip down there. The only way to get there (that we've found) is to take a grand taxi. Grand taxis are normal sized Mercedes sedans that normally hold 5 people, but here they hold 7 people. It is basically like a bus but in a car. You can pay for more than one spot, which we usually do, but the locals cram 4 in the back and two people in the front passenger seat. They will not leave until they are full.

So, Blake and I headed over to the taxi stand to find one going to the half-way city. We planned on paying for 3 seats, but when we got there, they were waiting for two people, so we hopped in before we knew what we were doing and headed out. Four people in the back is a squeeze, but it wasn't too bad. My back was starting to hurt a little bit, but we took turns leaning forward and leaning back.

When we got to the half-way city, we got out, got in a regular taxi to go across town to another taxi stand. When we got out there, there was a taxi we needed waiting for two people. We were so excited to not have to wait that we hopped in and suffered the rest of the way. It honestly wasn't too bad especially since the person I was crammed up against was Blake. I just listened to my ipod for the 4 hour (total) trip and we were there before we knew it.

So, I didn't something I said I would never do and it worked out just fine. Never say never!
