Just When You Think You Are Finished...

Cleaning the floors here is a little more complicated than in the U.S. We used to have carpet everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom, so everything else you just vacuum. Well, since it is tile, and mostly white tile in our house, I sweep and mop weekly. Blake calls them Sneezy Fridays. Well, this past Friday, I wasn't feeling well and I was wishing we could just hire someone to come to do it for me. It usually takes 2-3 hours to do it well and it's hard, but we agreed that we would save money on a househelper and do the work ourselves. So, I motivated myself with the thought of going to London in the spring and got to work.
I was done sweeping and was halfway done mopping, when I heard a knock on the door. It was my landlady, who is very nice, but not the most observant person. She failed to notice the broom and mop that I had out and came marching in with mud all over her shoes. Then, she asked if they could use the faucet in our bathroom to run a hose to the roof so she could clean the roof. I agreed, but the hose she used had problems. It was spewing water all over the place for an hour and a half. I was so frustrated because I had to keep mopping up and pushing the water back to keep it from flooding the house. I spent the entire time doing that and then when she was done, I had to start all over again on the floors. Not the best day I've had so far, but it makes me thankful for my considerate husband who would never track mud in the house (because he knows I would punch him).
