We traveled yesterday from our small town to the largest city in our country. We were able to eat a snack and KFC and then dinner at TGIFridays. Then today, we returned to the city we studied language in. So far, we've also been able to eat McDonalds and Pizza Hut. So we are getting our fill of American food!
The highway near our town is a two lane, windy road. But up in this part of the country, it is called the Autoroute. It is basically an interstate. It was so fun to be on a straight road where passing is not life-threatening! The funny thing is the way people use their signals here. I was noticing that alot of people used their left blinker for long periods of time. I just assumed that everyone forgets to turn it off, but apparently you are supposed to use your left blinker anytime you are in the left late, not just to signal a lane change. And if you are behind someone in the left lane and want to them to get out of your way, you flash your lights at them and they are supposed to move over. I'm going to do my best not to pick these habits up so I don't make people crazy when I drive in Oklahoma again.
I heard this from a friend's blog, and I thought it was funny. It is the hierarchy of vehicles on the roads here:
1. Buses
2. Grand taxis
3. Regular taxis
4. Normal cars
5. Horse carts
6. Donkeys
7. Kids running
8. Old women with groceries
9. Men
10. Bikes
